Bursa Beginnings is an initiative by Bursa Malaysia Berhad to plant early seeds of financial literacy in children. It aims to create awareness about the basics of value, finance, trading and investment, so by the time they reach 18 years old, these young adults will be equipped with foundational knowledge and understanding of the financial markets. This will serve as a catalyst to encourage a larger portion of these age group to participate in investing and trading with greater confidence.
Bursa Beginnings, through the launched of Burmon Trader, was introduced to the public on 5 August 2024, at the Bursa Marketplace Fair.
Burmon Trader is a virtual trading simulation where players engage in buying and selling goods to maximise profit and invest to grow wealth. The game considers the concept of "pester power" to result in actual trading from parents, premising that if the child is interested in the stock market, both the interest of the child and the parents in investing will be elevated.
Burmon Adventure is a series of financial literacy books based on the Burmon characters. These books aim to teach fundamental concept of value, finance, savings and investing in an engaging manner. Designed as game books, readers make choices at different junctures that lead to different storylines. This format resonates with the decision-making process in real-world investing. Ultimately, the Burmon Adventure series aims to raise awareness about financial scam among young children to combat future financial crime.
