Bursa Malaysia Launches First Shariah Webinar Series to Promote Sustainable Islamic Finance Practices
Bursa Malaysia conducted its first-ever Shariah Webinar Series for the Islamic Capital Market on 7 March 2024. The event, held at the Maqasid al-Shariah Guidance Islamic Capital Market Malaysia, marked a significant step forward in promoting Shariah-compliant financial practices. The webinar, jointly organised by the Shariah Centre of Excellence of Bursa Malaysia (SCOE) and the Association of Shariah Advisers in Islamic Finance (ASAS), aimed to ensure the financial market promotes social justice, ethical conduct, and sustainable development in line with Shariah principles.
One of the key highlights of the event include the introduction of the Maqasid al-Shariah Guidance aimed at strengthening the resilience and integrity of the Islamic capital market. The inaugural series was presented by Dr. Azrul Azlan Iskandar Mirza, Deputy Director of Shariah of the Securities Commission Malaysia. This event embodies Bursa Malaysia's ongoing efforts to position Malaysia as the premier global hub for Islamic finance by providing a dynamic platform for industry experts, scholars and participants to explore the practical application of Shariah principles.
