Malaysian Palm Oil Council urges EU to delay implementation of deforestation law
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Reuters) - State agency the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) on Thursday urged the European Union to delay the implementation of its law banning imports of commodities linked to deforestation. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) should be delayed from its scheduled implementation on Dec. 30 this year to protect small farmers and ensure fair trade, the MPOC said in a statement.
