The metal has briefly surged above key barrier at $2,686, the 161.8% projection level of a wave c from $2,596. Given that this wave has not completed around $2,686, it is likely to extend into $2,728-$2,741 range. Support is fixed at $2,673, where a rising trendline crosses. A break below the support could trigger a drop into $2,652-$2,665 range. On the daily chart, the metal has broken resistance at $2,676. The break opened the way towards $2,721. It is not very clear if the market could break $2,721 and rise further as strong resistance is observed around this level. The peak of a wave b is close to $2,721, working as strong resistance as well. A break above this resistance would be followed by a rise towards $2,759-$2,793 range. * Wang Tao is a Reuters market analyst for commodities and energy technicals.
