Silicon Vision – A Shot in the Arm for Malaysia’s Chip Ambition
- Malaysia is partnering Arm Holdings plc, the world's largest chip designer, to kickstart Malaysia’s chip design ecosystem and ascend the semiconductor value chain.
- Through the groundbreaking deal, Arm will provide selected companies with privileged access to its cutting-edge IPs and technology over the next 10 years and train 10,000 engineers to boost local chip design capabilities.
- Pivoting on Arm’s expertise, the government aims to achieve the first Malaysia-designed AI chip in the next 5 to 7 years and create local firms with indigenous IP ownership for high-end use cases.
