EU softens crackdown on child labour, pollution in supply chains.
Belgium, currently holding the EU presidency, has proposed a more lenient approach to rules requiring large companies to disclose supply chain practices. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), aimed at environmental and child labour concerns, will now apply to fewer firms. This, comes after the CSDDD was reject by Germany. German ministers had said the draft law would increase bureaucracy and legal uncertainties.
