US strengthens national soot standards, industry objects.

The U.S. government has strengthened air quality standards for soot for the first time in over a decade, predicting $46 billion in health benefits. Industry groups however, has urged the EPA to set a less stringent standard instead, slamming the proposal and warning that it would slow down the implementation of the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act.
